The Sale Rotary Club, Your Own Way, Twin Rivers Lions Club, Maffra Gymnastics Club, and Paynesville Bowls Club are the latest recipients of a total of $10,000 in community grants from Gippsland Critical Minerals (GCM).

GCM’s Community Grants program provides $10,000 in grants each quarter to support projects with a focus on local educational, recreational, environmental, and social initiatives.

GCM’s Janet Robertson said: “We have amazing people in East Gippsland who work incredibly hard to maintain our strong local community. We are pleased that GCM’s community grants helps them access the funds they need to run important community programs and keep their facilities up to date.

“For the Sale Rotary Club, funds will be used to support public awareness of family and domestic violence, support for those affected and contribute to building a safer community.

“At Your Own Way, a local disability support charity, the funds will help establish an accessible community garden in Bairnsdale for more than 250 people in the community with disabilities. The community garden will provide them with opportunities to engage in gardening and grow fresh produce, and encourage active involvement in a sustainable, community-driven environment where people can learn, contribute and connect.

“The Twin River Lions Club will use funds to enhance their community shed with an outdoor lunch/tea area and landscaping, including picnic tables constructed by Twin Rivers Men’s Shed members.

“We also know how important sport is for building social connections and maintaining well-being for people of all ages. This round of grants will support equipment upgrades for the Maffra Gymnastics Club, and at the Paynesville Bowls Club, funds will help replace broken tables with new round mobile tables that can be easily removed and stored.

“GCM is working hard to build links and engage local community members while we continue to examine the Fingerboards Critical Minerals Project. Our community grants program is a small way for us to give back to the local community and support the important work of local organisations.”
